Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis

Mike Meltzer

Psychoanalysis and psychodynamic-oriented therapies bring a unique approach to treatment with opportunities for significant and lasting impact.  In particular, the therapeutic relationship that consists of regularly-scheduled meetings allows for deepening one’s understanding of factors that contribute to a sense of well-being.  During initial sessions, we will discus your motivations for entering therapy and begin to expand our understanding of the sources of your challenges.  With encouragement to freely explore ones thoughts and feelings, individuals I work with gain increasing access to their mind, and influence over their challenges.

My Specialties

Mental health challenges often present themselves in a variety or ways during our early years of life. I provide mental health consultation to parents with children of all ages. Providing our children with the support they need in their development is crucial to raising creative, happy and healthy little ones.  By working closely together, we will consider all parts of your child and learn about what it is that may be missing or needed.

The period of adolescence is considered to be between the ages of about 12-20. Changes that take place during this time can be both exciting and scary for the entire family. By connecting with your teenager’s strengths and understanding important motivations during this period of development, psychotherapy can work to create experiences that will build on existing resources to cope with obstacles particular to this time in life.

By the time we reach adulthood, so many factors that have shaped who we are and how we live. Psychotherapy and psychoanalysis can help you understand yourself in ways that allow you to make adjustments to your life.
